Boost college application

start building your portfolio for future!

Developing art skills in the early age is necessary to thrive in future technological skills like user experience and  innovative thinking.

It is a great asset to keep preparing an art portfolio to support college apps, or even a first job in industry.

A child with artistic ability will be able to blossom into a perceptive individual who can think outside of the box (a key skill in technological advancements).

Testimony

My name is Nischita Krishnamoorthy, I am a freshman at UCSC after graduating Dougherty Valley High School in June 2019. DVHS is a very competitive school where everyone is trying to differentiate themselves from others and stand out in the college admissions process. Art is an extracurricular activity that helped me stand out in high school compared to other students. From a young age I have loved painting and drawing.Through art, I could step away from the daily and bustle of high school and to just take a break. I was extremely lucky to find Kavita Auntie about 5-6 years ago. Without her help I would not have blossomed into the artist I am today. In fact, with all the paintings I have done under her I created a website to show off my art to not only friends and family but also to the colleges I was applying for. While writing some of my college essays I highlighted to the admissions people my art website. I feel that this made my application stand out and helped me get into the schools that were at the top of my list. Kavita Auntie always put a smile on my face as not only I made amazing art, but also met some very fun people that made class very enjoyable. Going to her class was something I looked forward to every Saturday. Kavita Auntie was always encouraging, allowed me the freedom to pick the subjects for my paintings and helped me become a better artist by patiently introducing me to all the various techniques. And now that I am in college I genuinely miss her and her classes at Pencil Moments because they had so much impact on my life. Thank you Kavita Auntie for being my teacher and making the past 5-6 years of my life one of the greatest.
